Editorial policy
Western Screen Review aims to make thoughtful, accurate writing about western cinema. We separate observation from interpretation, take care with historical claims and make changes when the record or the wording calls for them.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check names, titles, dates and other factual details before publication, using appropriate references where needed. Film analysis is interpretive: we support readings with visible or audible details and avoid presenting an inference as settled fact. When a subject is uncertain or disputed, we say so rather than smoothing away the uncertainty.
Independence and interests
Editorial decisions are made for the publication's readers. A commercial relationship does not buy a favourable review or control over an independent editorial judgment. Where a relevant interest could affect how a piece is read, we disclose it clearly.
Corrections
We correct factual errors and clarify wording that could materially mislead readers. If you spot a problem, use the Contact page and identify the article and the detail in question. Substantive corrections are noted with the article; minor edits for spelling or clarity may be made without a separate notice.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid placements and other partner material are identified clearly where they appear and are kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when that is the case, the illustration is labelled. Images are not presented as documentary evidence unless they are being used as such and their context is clear.
