Western Screen Review

Write for us

Western Screen Review welcomes concise, original pitches about western cinema and the choices that shape it. We are interested in considered writing that helps a general reader notice something specific, not in plot retellings or broad claims without on-screen support.

What to pitch

Possible subjects include a film's use of landscape, the construction of a character, a recurring story form, a screen technique or a carefully framed question about genre history. A pitch should have one clear angle, explain why it suits Western Screen Review and indicate what a reader will be able to see or understand afterward.

A strong proposal

Send a short outline in your own words, name the film or films you have in mind, and say what makes the angle distinct. Let us know whether the piece is original and whether it has been offered elsewhere. Avoid unsupported historical claims, promotional copy and pitches that depend on access we have not agreed to provide.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication. Please wait for an editorial reply before sending a complete draft, unless a draft has been requested.
